Mission
Education & PromotionThe newest members of the Maryknoll family...
Affiliates share in the mission and family spirit of Maryknoll Sisters, Fathers and Brothers and Lay Persons living lives of service in more than 30 countries. Organized in their home areas, Affiliates realize their own mission call and become vital personal links in the global proclamation of the reign of God announced by Jesus. They offer their lives, lived as witness to mission at home, as varied and valuable resources for the realization of the common Maryknoll mission vocation.
Maryknoll Affiliates began in 1991 and have evolved into a loosely knit organization of local Chapters sustained by four pillars:
Global
Vision:
A sustained awareness of the interrelatedness of all that we do and
that what happens in each country has an impact throughout the
global village.
Spirituality:
A nourishment of one's call to a more intimate relationship with
God, informed by the spirit and experience of mission.
Community:
A willingness to gather with other committed Affiliates for mutual
support, reflection, prayer, study and communal activity.
Action:
An Affiliate is involved in some mission work, service, task, or
activity, alone or with others, according to his/her time and
interests.
The Eastbay Affiliates meet at the Maryknoll Mission Center in San Leandro on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. Typically they gather for a potluck dinner, followed by prayer, shared reflection and a meeting.
